Principal's Message

Hello to all students, parents, and guardians!

I am very happy to be filling the position of principal at Rawdon District School this year! I know the summer has been full of anticipation about what the school year will look like. One thing I know for sure is that we will have a year full of learning and growing, and I am very much looking forward to getting to know RDS and all of its students! As Ms. Noddin-Bona has stated in the past, our goal is to make the experience of education a meaningful and rewarding one for all members of our school community. By building on children's strengths in a caring and dynamic learning environment, we can make your child's experience at school a positive and rewarding one.

This year's schedule will look a bit different as we, along with many other schools, have moved to an 8 day cycle. This means that our school schedule will be based on Days 1-8 as opposed to Monday-Friday. Students will have Physical Education on days 3, 4, 7, and 8, depending on each class's schedule. Music will be on days 2, 4, 6, and 8 and French will be on days 1, 3, 5, and 6. Your student's teacher will provide you with a more detailed schedule once the school years begins!

Rawdon District School participates in the Virtues Project which has been integrated with the Seven Sacred Teachings. Our goal is to support each student in developing a strong moral character so they can lead by positive example. We are also a PEBS school (Positive Effective Support System). The PEBS program has a common set of behaviour expectations that encourage students to make good choices which respect themselves, others, the environment, and learning.

We are looking forward to a wonderful school year at RDS! We know that each and every one of our students are successful and capable individuals. We will continue to model positive behaviours and relationships to our students and we are very dedicated to guiding and assisting each student in their academic and social-emotional journey.

We will continue to update the website as more information becomes available and as the school year progresses.

I can't wait to see all of the terrific Rawdon Tigers on September 7th!
